häsler r. gómez (h.r.g.) [index]
born from a longing to understand the contradictions of existing in opposition to the categories we are defined by, the work of häsler r. gómez investigates issues of personal, political, and social desire, as well as probes the connections between language, history, immigration, gender, and power.
gómez holds a bfa in art with an emphasis in sculpture and a ba in psychology from the university of nevada, reno. his work has been exhibited extensively, including exhibitions at heaven gallery in chicago, il (forthcoming); visible records in charlottesville, va (forthcoming); winchester gallery in las vegas, nv; the holland project in reno, nv; well well projects in portland, or; baitball art fair in polignano a mare, italy; sierra nevada university in incline, nv; other places art fair in san pedro, ca; zygote press in cleveland, oh; sky lab gallery in columbus, oh; aviary gallery in boston, ma; carnation contemporary in portland, or; tropical contemporary in eugene, or; axis gallery in sacramento, ca; and trestle gallery in brooklyn, ny. he currently is a mfa candidate in the sculpture + extended media program at virginia commonwealth university (vcu) and is a member of portland based after / time collective.
